Viagem lost 1–2 to Jihlava; coach Oulehla addressed the team’s mistakes and the near departure of key players

It was not until the 8th round that the Viagem footballers faced their first defeat of the season. On Friday evening at the Municipal Stadium, they lost 1–2 to Jihlava, thus losing their previously perfect competitive record.

The home side had to manage the match without the ill Franck Idumba, who is one of the team’s most potent attacking weapons. His absence ultimately had an impact on the overall impression of the game, although the decisive moment came elsewhere.

The winning goal for the visitors from Vysočina came following an individual blunder by centre-back Yameoga. This was by no means an isolated lapse – according to manager Oulehla, the player had made a similar mistake earlier in the season.

“It was a huge mistake and it wasn’t the first; I’ll be having a stern talk with him,” admitted the Ústí coach after the match.

Oulehla was also dissatisfied with the performances of several players in the starting line-up, suggesting that the defeat to Jihlava was not merely the result of a single individual error, but a reflection of the manager’s long-standing dissatisfaction with the form of part of the squad.

Another interesting development in the final weeks of the transfer window was that Viagem came close to losing two key attacking players. Manager Oulehla confirmed that, towards the end of the transfer window, the club nearly lost both Idumba and another attacking player, but ultimately managed to keep both in the squad.
