Idumbo is beaming with joy in Ústí; his brother is playing in the Champions League
Twenty-four-year-old Belgian Franck Idumbo is one of the brightest stars in our first team. He has already scored three times this year and seems to be enjoying his spell in northern Bohemia.
Franck Idumbo, a 24-year-old Belgian, is emerging as one of the standout players of this season whilst playing for VIAGEM Ústí nad Labem. He joined the club with the ambition of making his mark in the Czech league, and so far he’s been successful – he’s already scored three goals.
Idumbo says he is enjoying his spell in northern Bohemia and has found not only sporting but also personal fulfilment in Ústí. A special part of his story is his brother, who is currently playing in the Champions League – despite the distance, the brothers are in close contact and, in his own words, speak on the phone every day to share experiences from their careers.
Commenting on the team’s current form, Idumbo also spoke about one of their recent matches, describing the stark contrast between the two halves:
“The first half was very good, probably the best of the season so far. It’s hard to explain what happened in the second half. I don’t know, maybe we lost our concentration a bit, but it’s painful.”
The Belgian striker’s comments suggest that, despite his personal satisfaction and form, the team still has room for improvement in terms of their collective performance over the full ninety minutes. Thanks in part to players like Idumbo, VIAGEM is confident that such fluctuations will gradually be ironed out.
